Donald L. Anderson
1941 - 2009

Donald L. Anderson, 68, of Bristol, Wis., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie.

Born June 28, 1941, in Kenosha, he was the son of Walter and Eileen (Gumbel) Anderson. A lifelong resident of Kenosha and graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School, he also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

On June 18, 1963, he entered the United States Air Force serving until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1967. Donald was trained as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist and Missile Mechanic.

For 27 years he was a field engineer for IBM, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Southport Gun Club, local HOG group, the N.R.A. and he was an avid hunter. Don enjoyed riding his Harely and loved truck driving.

Surviving are a son, David (Elizabeth) Anderson of The Colony, Texas; two daughters, Dianne (David) Burd of Eagan, Minn., and Laura (Michael) Eckert of Lakeville, Minn.; his father, Walter Anderson of Necedah, Wis.; two sisters, Kay (Gene) Schwarze of Eagle River, Wis., and Joy (William) Vancaster of Mauston, Wis.; and his seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Proko Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Eugene Arnao
1948 - 2000

Services for Eugene Arnao, of Palmdale, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Edwards Air Force Base Chapel One. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

Arnao was born in Miami on Feb. 14, 1948, and died March 4 at age 52. He worked as chief of nuclear weapons maintenance for the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf wars.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Jean Arnao; sons Joel W. and Mathew Arnao; a daughter, Sarah Arnao; brother, Richard Arnao; sisters Patricia Albury and Sara Caldwell; and one grandchild.

Chapel of the Valley Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

John S. Bazar
1921 - 2005

John S. Bazar, U.S. Air Force (ret.), age 83, of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005. He spent his youth in the Civilian Conservation Corp. Was awarded a Medal of Commendation during WWII. He worked at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Sandia Corp. and A.E.C. An avid stamp collector he never found the rare elusive upsidedown Aeroplane.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine; daughter, Jane Lingenfelter; sons, John Bazar, Frank (Angie), James (Kathryn), William (Tanya); grandchildren, Samantha Bazar, Scott Lingenfelter, Chris Bazar and Michelle (Ben) Noyce, Krista, Bazar; great-granddaughter, Isebella Noyce; one stepson, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Zeller of Toledo. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Bazar; sisters, Betty Jane Bazar and Alice Mae Bridge.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico with Military Honors.

Charles R. Beaumont
1921 - 2007

Charles R. Beaumont, 85, of Claremont, CA, passed on February 14, 2007 due to complications related to cancer.

Born on March 15, 1921 in Baltimore, Charlie received his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland where he met his wife. He married Sibyl Greenleaf and they remained happily married for 58 years. They had four children, Charles G. Beaumont, preceded in death in 1968, Sharon "Shon" Wellborn of Garberville, CA, James Beaumont of Sammamish, WA, and William Beaumont of Calimesa, CA. He leaves five granddaughters Lori, Sarah, Katie, Claire and Nicole.

In 1942, Beaumont enlisted in the Army Air Corp, selecting Air Force when the services split and served in WW II with tours in both India and England. He retired as a Lt. Col. after 26 years, obtained his realtor's license and retired from Coldwell Banker as Vice President and branch manager of the Claremont office after 20 years.

He served as Master of the Claremont Masonic Lodge #436 in 1972 and has remained active in both regional Masonic and DeMolay organizations. He was past Chairman of the Claremont Red Cross and was most recently serving as Disaster Committee Chairman. He was a member of the Claremont University Club, serving on its Finance Committee.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Claremont Red Cross. Services will be held at Todd Memorial in Claremont, California on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. Private committal will be made. Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Bays Cunningham Beck, Jr.
1935 - 2009

Bays Cunningham Beck, Jr. of San Marcos, passed away August 1, 2009 at age 74.  Bays was born June 26, 1935 in Turkey Foot Fork, Mississippi to parents, Bays C. Beck, Sr. and Lucille (Duboise) Beck.

Bays served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Linda Beck and a sister, Evelyn Harris.  Bays is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wilma Greene Beck of San Marcos, daughters, Gayle Goodson of Grenada, Mississippi, Donna Granato of Lytle and Pam
McClintock of Wimberley, grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Aaron Granato, Desiree Granato, Allen McClintock, Derek McClintock and Dustin McClintock, great grandchildren, Caleb Brown and Skye Granato.  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 3:00 pm at the Goodnight & Snell Funeral Event Center, 107 Centerpoint Rd. with Celebration of Life Services beginning at 4:00 pm  with Chaplain Janet Hunter officiating.  The United States Air Force will be present to render Military Honors.  Arrangements under the direction of Goodnight & Snell funeral Directors, 101 B Centerpoint Road, San Marcos, TX.  512-667-6182.  Private condolences may be sent to the Beck family by visiting www.goodnightandsnell.com

James Booth
1928 - 2005

LAKELAND -- Mr. James D. Booth of Polk City died of lung cancer (Aug. 18, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Waukegan, Ill., and came here from Shreveport, La. In 1996. He was a member of Southeast Motorcoach Assoc., Southeast American Coach Association, FMCA, and VFW. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a nuclear weapons technician. He attended Crestview Baptist Church.

Mr. Booth is survived by his wife, Jean Booth, Polk City; sons, David L. Booth, Tyler, Texas, and Ray E. Booth, Stonewall, La.; daughter, Cheri B. Richardson, Shreveport, La.; brothers, Richard Ohlson, Makanda, Ill., and Earnest Booth, Nettleton, Miss.; sister, Grace Herman, Makanda, Ill.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. (August 22, 2005) at Crestview Baptist Church.

Bill Brackett
1929 - 2008

Billy (Bill) Brackett, 79, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at an Abilene medical center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Pastor Steve Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral Home.

Billy was born on May 13, 1929 to Arba Louise (Howell) and Albert Grady Brackett in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of a Navy chief who was killed in the South Pacific in World War II.

Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia. He trained and served at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi; Sandia Base, New Mexico; Hunter AFB, Georgia; Carswell AFB, Texas; Patrick AFB, Florida; and was part of the 25th Atomic Test Group at Kirkland AFB, New Mexico. Bill continued his career as a nuclear weapons technician at Eglin AFB, Florida; Bitburg AFB, Germany; Langley AFB, Virginia; was detached to 183 TUSLOG in Murteg, Turkey; and finally to Dyess AFB where he retired as a Master Sergeant in Abilene.

Bill was an avid car enthusiast and spent many happy hours tinkering in the garage and restoring cars, boats, motorcycles, and anything else that needed mechanical aptitude for repair. He participated in a local bowling league for many years and was a loving caregiver to his wife, Billy Jean Brackett.

Bill is survived by a son, John Brackett and wife, Debbie, and a daughter, Penny Smyth; six grandchildren, Kristi, Kelly, Alicia, Ursula, Marc, and Sarah; and three great-grandchildren, Kory, Kira, and Kalin.

George E. Bradley
1960 - 2007

George E. Bradley, 46, of Peshtigo, Wis., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007, at home. He was born October 30, 1960, in Pittsfield, Mass., to the late George Joseph and Marion (Scully) Bradley.

George spent 21 years serving our country in the United States Air Force. He was a Master Sergeant, serving various roles domestically and internationally in Munitions Maintenance. Following his retirement in 2001 from the Military, he and his family moved to the Peshtigo area, where George worked for DeCrane, as a Program Manager.

He was a member of the American Legion and very active in the YMCA basketball program. George loved his children, spending time fishing and playing basketball with his son Joseph or camping with his daughter Quinn.

George in survived by one son, Joseph George; one daughter, Quinn Kyllene; and their mother, Jessica Bradley, all of Peshtigo, Wis.; twin brother, John (Kristine) Bradley of South Orange, N.J.; one sister, Kathleen (Robert) Sumner of Winsor, Mass.; one half-brother, Gary Salvadori of Vallejo, Calif.; and one half-sister, Cindy Powers of Glens Falls, N.Y.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, 2007, from 2 p.m. until Military Rites at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 6 p.m. at the FAITH BAPTIST CHURCH, Peshtigo, Wis. The Rev Dr. David Selness will be officiating.

Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

George T. Cote, Jr.
- 2008

COTE Jr., George T. "Skip", 79, of Millbrook, AL passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

Skip was a 28 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired Arkansas state employee.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Cote; two daughters, Betsy Jane Chandler (Steve), Sue Ann Cummings (Patrick); four grandchildren, Rose Marie Hanks (Patrick), Lori Beth Cummings, Mandy Jane Chandler and Jordan Thomas Chandler; two sisters, Virginia C. Sargeant and Mildred Priscilla Gionet.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday May 31st 2008 at Saint Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church of Millbrook, AL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church.

George E. DeGeare
1928 - 2008

Went home on June 12, 2008. He was born on April 16, 1928 in Hammond, IN, and was raised in Youngstown, OH. George retired from the USAF, after 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Barbara. He is survived by his children Maureen Bockes, MN; Jane, Michael and Kristina Streeter, of Spokane; David, Kathleen and Frannie DeGeare, Oceanside, CA; brothers Thomas (Jean) DeGeare, Spokane; Ron (Cookie) DeGeare, CA; sister Montery Kidd, FL. Also surviving is his faithful and loyal companion; his dog, Bob.

There will be a Memorial Service for George, on July 2nd, 11:00 am at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 E. Broadway Ave.

Herbert L. Fletcher
1928 - 2008

Herbert L. Fletcher 80 died Dec. 31, 2008 at his Troy home with his loving family with him, following a long illness.

He was born in Fairfield, ME Dec. 7, 1928 the son of Ralph W. and Katrina (Young) Fletcher. He was educated in Burnham schools. Herbert married Angie G. Temple in Burnham on Sept. 3, 1949.

Herbert made a career in the U. S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Throughout his military career Herbert worked as an instructor and an assembler of top-secret nuclear weapons. He retired in June of 1972 as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force he returned to school and earned his master electricians license.

Herbert was a member of the Benjamin Berry American Legion Post 50 in Unity. He was the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Troy for several years. He was an avid hunter and card player. He enjoyed riding through town on his daily route meeting his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Angie G Fletcher of Troy, two son and their wives, David and Judy Fletcher and Brian and Linda Fletcher all of Troy, two brothers and their wives, Raymond and Corrine Fletcher of Boynton Beach FL, Robert and Nancy Fletcher of Albion, one sister Bessie Luce of Troy, a sister-in-law Betty Fletcher of Waterville, four grandchildren, Angelina, Thomas, Amber, Justin, two great grandsons, Landon and Chase, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His son Steven, two brothers, Carlton and Lynn, and a sister, “Vic”, predeceased him.

A celebration of Herbert’s life will be conducted 1 to 3 PM Sunday January 4, 2009 at the Nightdrifters Snowmobile Club in Detroit. A graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted in the spring at the Rogers Cemetery in Troy. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High St. Newport.

Charles F. Freese
1953 - 2009

Charles Frederick Freese was born August 16, 1953 in Providence, RI to Frederick and Mary Freese. He grew up in Warwick, RI along with two brothers and two sisters. He graduated in 1971 from Warwick Vets Memorial High School and went on to enlist in the Air Force in February 1973.

His first assignment was to the Philippines, and was next assigned to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, where he met his future wife, Nadine. They were married on August 28, 1976 and spent two years on Guam where they had their oldest child, Thomas. They returned to Kirtland and had their youngest child, Catherine. Charlie went on to spend 25 years in the Air Force, retiring on August 1, 1997 as a SMSgt.

On December 31, 1996, Charlie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure on, but remained productive over the next ten years. On February 26, 2007, he received a heart transplant. On January 20, 2009, Charlie was admitted to the hospital with respiratory distress. He continued to have ups and downs over the next several months and passed away on September 17, 2009. His wife, Nadine, his son Thomas, daughter-in-law, Kenna, grandsons, Matthias and Kael, and daughter, Catherine, survive him. His siblings, Florence, Carleton, George and Mabel, also survive him.

Lloyd T. Frohn
1931 - 1998

Frohn -- Lloyd Thomas Frohn, 66, of Moriarty, NM, passed away Friday, May 8, 1998 at his home. Lloyd was born August 8, 1931 in Vinton, Iowa to Thomas William II and Mildred Frohn. Lloyd married Jennie Romero on December 16, 1950 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was a resident of Moriarty for the last four years, formerly of Denver, CO, and was a member of the Moriarty Church of Christ.

Lloyd was a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 23 years. He was a Master Sergeant, Nuclear Weapons Supervisor and Technical Instructor who served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1972 with an Honorable Discharge.

Lloyd loved and cherished his family and friends and will be missed deeply. Survivors include his wife, Jennie R. Frohn of their home in Moriarty, NM; three sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas William Frohn and wife, Nancy of West Minster, CO, Robert Dean Frohn of Tampa, FL, and James R. Frohn of Moriarty, NM; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Dee and husband, Craig Sadberry of Moriarty, NM; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Edna Frohn; and one sister, Margaret Dyer. Also survived by six grandchildren, Thomas, Kirsta, Dustin, Nina, Crystal and Cody. Lloyd was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Lee Dawson April 1, 1989, she was married to Richard Dawson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at The Moriarty Church of Christ with John Booth officiating. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Tuesday afternoon. Pallbearers will be Garth Mathes, Robert Frohn, James Frohn, Craig Sadberry, Dustin Sadberry, and Joe Abril. Roy Green
- 2006

MASTER SERGEANT ROY W. GREEN, age 76 died suddenly on March 31, 2006. Born in Clayton, NJ he was raised in Pitman, NJ and attended Pitman High School. He lived in Pittsgrove, NJ since 1976.

Roy joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1969. After his service he worked for Fashion Neckwear of Nashua, NH and retired after 20 years. MSgt. Green was assigned to the 1100th USAF Special Reporting Group in July, 1949. In September, 1949 he was assigned to the 551st Aviation Depot Squadron at Killeen Base, Killeen, Texas. In February, 1952 he moved with the 551st and 510th ADS to Manzano Base in Albuquerque, NM. In December, 1954 he was assigned to the Mechanical and Loading School at Lowry AFB. In March of 1956 then TSgt. Green was assigned to the 5th ADS Sidi Silmane, French Morocco where he was NCOIC Mechanical Section. In February, 1957 he returned to LAFB for Instructor Duty. In July, 1957 he was assigned as NCOIC Production Control at Stony Brook AFS, Mass. In January, 1962 he was assigned as NCOIC Quality Control with the 36th Tactical Fighter Group, 5th TDS in Bitburg, Germany. In December of 1964 hereturned to the United States where he was assigned as NCOIC Mechanical Laboratory at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, NM. He remained at KAFB until he retired.

Msgt. Green was a member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association, the American Legion and the Nuclear Weapons Technician's Association (www.usafnukes.com). He was active in reunions for a number of his former units. He particularly enjoyed traveling and golf.

He is survived by his wife Doris M., son Roy W. (Susan) , daughter Robin (Michael) Carabrese, grandchildren Stacey Flynn, Jason Green, Melissa Carabrese, brother William Green, sisters Mabel McGinnis, Sarah Johnson, Mildred Mannino, and great grandchildren Cassie, Ryan and Kira Flynn. Predeceased by infant son Robert W. and brother David.

Msgt. Green is interred at the Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Franklin Township, NJ.

John H. Hartranft
1922 - 2002

Hartranft -- John Henry Hartranft, Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt.), USAF Retired, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, age 79 years, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at the Ladera Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born November 22, 1922 in Conyngham, Pennsylvania, son of Edna Jane Santee and Eugene Hartranft. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Rosaline; two children, Jane Malinda Kemp, her husband, John of Waco, Texas; son, Dwayne Michael Hartranft and his wife, Maria of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, David Christopher and James Matthew of Waco, Texas.

John entered the military service in 1943, upon graduation from Mansfield State Teachers College, and served in the South Pacific Theater of Operations for 20 months as a radio operator during World War II. In the early 1950's he came to Albuquerque to reenlist in the Nuclear Special Weapons field of the USAF and was stationed at Sandia Base before it became Sandia National Laboratories.

It was then he fell in love with the Land of Enchantment and vowed to return when he retired. From Sandia Base he was stationed at Deep Creek Station near Spokane, Washington for 12 years where they were a number of missile silos. From there he spent three years at Sembach Air Base in southern Germany where he was appointed as liaison between the military and the civilian communities. Upon returning to the States he spent two years at Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, Kansas, as a First Sergeant before retiring to Albuquerque in 1971. He worked in the security field for a number of years in the Albuquerque area.

He was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church, the Partnership Class, and the Methodist Men's Bowling League. He was a long time delivery man for Meals on Wheels; donated more than eight gallons of blood; and participated in several studies for the Aged. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE. Arrangements are being made through the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.

Kenneth F. Horgan
1925 - 2004

HORGAN -- Kenneth F. Horgan, 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 7, 2004.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Wilson of Kregsville, PA; daughters, Rickie Blansom of Joshua, TX, Mary Alice Winchell and husband, Michael Kaminski of Placitas and Patricia A. Avants and husband, Charles of Los Lunas; four grandchildren, Gwen Claus, Patrick Jester, Crista Jester and Brad Avants; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Horgan was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 30 years and also served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Navy. He also retired from the United States Post Office after 25 years. Mr. Horgan was an instrumental in starting the Nuclear Museum in Albuquerque.

Mark A. James
1950 - 2007

Mark Allen James, 56, of Cheyenne died May 27 in Cheyenne. He was born on July 15, 1950, in Goodland, Kan. He had lived in Cheyenne for the past 14 years with prior residence in Germany.

Mr. James served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years before retiring with the rank of staff sergeant. He served during Vietnam and Desert Storm. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center and the NCO Club on F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

Survivors include his wife, Carol James, whom he married in North Glenn, Colo., on Aug. 5, 1972; one son, James Fisher of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters, Tammy James of Cheyenne, Cindy Fitzgerald of Cheyenne, Jamie Hunt of Casper, and Shyann James of Cheyenne; 11 grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Carol Potter of Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Mark D. and Clarice Elizabeth James.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Chaplain Bradley Agee officiating. Military rites will be conducted by F.E. Warren Air Force Base Honor Guard. Cremation will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens following the service.

John R. Jones
1920 - 2009

John Robert "Bob" Jones, 88. of Cheyenne, died Jan. 28 at the Davis Hospice Center. His last days he was surrounded by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jones was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Dunmore. Penn., and had lived here since 1969. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1972 from the 90th MMS as the Nuclear Weapons Superintendent. Mr. Jones was the maintenance crew chief of the Air Force's first B-29 aircraft and was an aerial gunner expert. He fought in the East Indies, Air Combat India Burma, India Burma China, and Air Offensive Japan. He received the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, American Theater Service Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores A. "Billie" (Kinderknecht) Jones, whom he married Oct. 7, 1943 in Hays, Kan.; three sons, Herbert Jones of Clarksville, Tenn., and James R. Jones and Ronald P. Jones, both of Cheyenne; eight-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert L. and Elizabeth (Baker) Jones.

Cremation has taken place in at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Robert L. Johnson
1943 - 2009

Robert Lynn "Bob" Johnson, 66, formerly of McAlester, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, in Phoenix.

Born July 20, 1943, in McAlester, he was the son of Lester and Dorothy Ray Johnson. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1961.He served in the United States Air Force as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist from 1961 to 1965, stationed in Colorado and Texas. He attended the University of Texas, Austin and began a long career as a computer engineer. His work took him all over the world, living in London and Birmingham, England, Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. He and his family returned to the States, residing in Philadelphia, Pa., then taking him to Dallas, and Phoenix, where he had resided for several years. During his high school days, he was involved with the McAlester High School band, making All State Band with his trumpet and having his own ham radio band. He was also a disc jockey for KNED radio. While in the Air Force, he took up the guitar, becoming proficient and steering him to own a folk music house in Dallas for many years called the Rubaiyat, which became a place for up and coming artists to begin their careers. He was also an avid pilot, at one time being a member of a World War I flying team in England. He was a lifelong member of McAlester First Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Julia Carpenter, Bozeman, Mont.; son, Robin Scott Johnson, Kearney, Neb.; wife, Kate Johnson, Philadelphia, Pa.Also, grandson, Jared Lounsbury, Philadelphia, Pa.; mother, Dorothy Johnson, of Krebs; sister, Rose Ann Hicks and husband, John, Collierville, Tenn.; nephews, Dennis Johnson, Rodondo Beach, Calif., and Brian Hicks, Collierville, Tenn., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Johnson; a brother, David Johnson, and father, Lester Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Brian Cook, John Hicks, Brian Hicks, Dennis Cook, John Imes and David Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Barney Fleetwood, Udell Barnes, Harmon Stokes and Mike Williams.

Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Harrison-Powers Post No. 79. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Robert G. Kline
1924 - 2004

ROBERT G. (SARGE) KLINE May 16, 1924 to June 5, 2004, 80, a 40 yr. resident of Colton died 6 /5/04 at St. Bernardine's Hosp. He was born in Bloomington, PA.

In September of 1942 he answered his country's call to battle by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a rifleman using the BAR until 1945. While in the Marines, he was in the 6th Marine Division, and later assigned to the 22nd Marines. He was in many major campaigns; Guadal Canal, Tarawa, Solomon Islands, Mariana Islands, the Marshalls, Enewetoc, and eventually in the Corps' costliest battle of the war Okinawa. While in the Mar ines, he received 2 purple hearts, 3 unit citations, a presidential unit citation, and other awards. He later served in the U.S.A.F. from Dec. 1947 - Nov. 1964.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1964, he worked for 22 years as a mail carrier at the Colton Post Office until his retirement in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Maria (Belle) Kline, Colton; son Robert W. Kline, San Bdno.; daughter Dolores Diaz of Baldwin Park, CA; brother Jack Kline, Lakewood.

He enjoyed going on overnight trips to Laughlin and the Avi Casino in Nevada, and was also a devoted Sports Watch player at San Manuel in Highland.

Visitation: June 10 at Montecito Memorial Park in Loma Linda from 5p.m. to 9p.m. Rosary Service at 7p.m. Funeral: June 11 at 11a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colton. Interment with Military Honors at Montecito Cemetery.

Matt Kronz
1925 - 2008

Matt Kronz, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Kronz was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Elk City, Okla. A member of the Catholic church, he served in the United States Marines during World War II and later retired after 22 years with the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era.

Mr. Kronz was a member of the VFW and AMVETS Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.

On Nov. 23, 1944, he married Juanita Ramsey in Okla. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Laney and Denise Kronz, both of Poplar Bluff; a son, Mathew Kronz, of Campbell; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Father Kyle Hill officiating.

Loyal Collins Madden
1932 - 2008

Loyal Collins Madden, 75, of Somers, passed away at home Thursday October 16, 2008 with his wife by his side.

Born in Decatur IL December 25, 1932 to the late Loyal W. and Ruth (Collins) Madden, he grew up there, and entered the U.S. Air Force, where he became a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving his country as a Staff Sergeant as part of S.A.C. (Strategic Air Command).

He then moved to Somers in 1957, and became a very active member of the Somers Congregational Church. Loyal also worked for IBM, retiring after 40 years. He then operated an engraving business “L & M Engraving” in Somers, doing much work for town offices and surrounding businesses.

Loyal was also very active in the Somers community as a leader with the Tolland County 4-H Club; being a charter member of the Northeast two Cylinder Club; a member of the CT Farm Bureau; a member of Scantic Valley Engine Club; on the Board of Directors of both the 4-Town Fair and the CT Fair Assoc. Loyal also founded the 43rd Aviation Flying Club in Hartford. Loyal loved restoring Antique tractors, as well as beekeeping and other interests.

Loyal is survived by his wife of 50 years Marjory Ruth (Blow) Madden of Somers; his four children Michael E. Madden of Westhampton MA, Steven Madden and his wife Janice of Suffield, Susan M. Rabideau and her husband Ken of Apex NC, and Dan Madden and his wife Katherine of Somers; and his four grandchildren Stephanie, Michelle, Madeline, and Gordon.

Relatives and friends are invited to a wake on Sunday October 19, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. Funeral services and burial are private.

Russell S. Richardson
- 2002

Richardson -- Russell Scott Richardson, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since May 1986, died Sunday, March 17, 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Richardson of the family home; son, Robert S. Richardson and wife, Joan of Bear, DE; daughters, Margaret Thompson and husband, Thomas of Albuquerque and Virginia Kulpit and husband, Michael of Honolulu, HI; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Richardson served 22 years in the US Air Force retiring in 1963. He served as a non-commissioned officer in charge of Nuclear Weapons Section, 37th Munitions Maintenance Squadron at KAFB. He received a commendations medal for meritorious service.

Mr. Richardson was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood, Air Force Sergeants Assoc., AARP, and had worked for Sears Roebuck and DeVries and Company.

Memorial Services have taken place and interment of cremains will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Richard Allen Roberts, Sr.
1936 - 2008

On May 10th, 2008, God, out of his tender mercy, called Richard Alan “Dick” Roberts Sr. home.

Dick was born March 23rd, 1936, in Belle, WV. He grew up in Charleston, WV, and joined the Air Force in 1956. He retired in 1977 as a SMSGT in Minot, ND, where he met and married his wife, Vicky, on June 5th, 1986. They moved to Maryland in 1996 and enjoyed being near his family. He became a beekeeper and was able to pursue his passion for fishing. The year 2006 brought him to Kernersville, NC, where he spent the rest of his days in love with life, family, and his church, Sedge Garden UMC.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Dorcus Aretz, who lived in West Virginia, and Nancy Herring, who lived in Texas.

He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory: wife, Vicky; brother, James Roberts of West Virginia; children, Richard A. “Rick” Roberts of South Dakota, Nancy Roberts of Maryland, Rebecca Hazen of Massachusetts and Ronald “Joe” Roberts of North Carolina; also 8 grandchildren and much more family and friends.

A special Thank You to Hospice of Winston-Salem, NC, and to a special caregiver, Amy Bofenkamp. No memorial service in North Carolina is planned. His ashes will be interred in Spencer, WV, in the Roberts family cemetery on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008.

Kenneth W. Ward

HENNIKER -- Kenneth Warren Ward, 68, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Hospice House.  He was the dearly loved husband of Peggy, devoted father of Dale and Piper and much loved father-in-law of Laurie and John. He was the best granddad in the world to Emily and Daniel. He is survived by this mother, Christine Ward; his sister, Judy and brother-in-law, Marshall; and extended family in England.

Henry W. Wood
1942 - 2004

WOOD -- Henry "Woody" W. Wood, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on February 9, 2004. He was born on October 5, 1942 in New Jersey to Ralph and Dorothy Wood.

Woody grew up in Gettysburg, PA and graduated from Gettysburg Regional High School in 1960. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent over 20 years as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist with many tours of duty including England, Greece, and stateside at Kirtland Air Force Base, retiring as a Tech Sergeant.

After his retirement with the Air Force, Woody spent over 20 years working at the Officer's Club at Kirtland Air Force Base where he acquired most of his very special friends. The depth of this man embraced the past, present and future. His interest in art, music, history, literature, "electronic gadgets", and yes, a hardcore Lobo fan made him a true treasure to his family and friends. A more steadfast friend will never be found or be more deeply missed.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Paul Muench of Arlington, VA; and a host of very special friends and loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, February 12, 2004 at 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options (2400 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho) with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors by the Kirtland Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Peter J. Zboinski
1947 - 2006

Peter J. "Pete" Zboinski, of King of Prussia, a missile and defense system engineer died on Wednesday, June 07, 2006. He was born in Norristown on December 4, 1947 son of the late John and Ida (Kateusz) Zboinski. Pete was the beloved husband of Susan G. Harmon Zboinski.

Pete graduated the former St. Mary Grade School and the former St. Matthew High School class of '65. He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1965-1985 as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, he received the following decorations and medals: Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 devices, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 devices, NCO Professional Military Education Graduation Ribbon, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He was employed by Lockheed Martin in King of Prussia as a Missile and Defense System Engineer. His hobbies included woodworking and playing with his pet parrot, "Coco". He was a socialite of the King of Prussia Fire Company, where he had many friends.

Survived by: a brother, Richard Zboinski of Conshohocken; and 3 step children: Kimberly A. Harmon of Sanatoga, Michael E. (Michelle) Harmon of Ardmore, and James E. Harmon Jr. of Phoenixville; and 3 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday evening, June 9, from 7-9pm at the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohocken or on Saturday morning, June 10, in the funeral home from 9-10am. A Catholic Service will commence in the funeral home at 10am officiated by Rev. Pastor Monsignor Grudowski. Interment, St. Benedicts Cemetery.
